Learning On the Phone and On the Web is Easy, Cost-Effective and Fun!

"Wow, what a powerful teleconference you created on Monday! It was as though you had been reading my journal on all the questions I have about publishing where I humbly ask to be shown the right people and places to be. You were precise, informative, creative, professional, warm and friendly - what a super combination of qualities. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and passion about publishing. I am still digesting all of your ideas. My only regret was that myspeed writing skills barely kept up with your efficient presentation."

--Laura Lynne Dyer, aspiring author

"Thanks for an outstanding program. I am an educator, psychotherapist and former Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Director of Faculty Development, where I taught physicians how to enhance their teaching skills. Your organization, delivery, and precision listening skills made this a professionally superior experience for me."

Here's How Our Web and Phone Seminars Work

Some people are nervous or uncertain about taking classes or attending conferences online instead of learning at an in-person seminar. We hope you will suspend disbelief and take a chance on a wonderful new way to learn.

Most of us want to keep learning - for our professional careers, for our hobbies, about relationships - in all areas of our lives. But where do we find the time to research what is available, sign up and then attend? Virtual learning can save you time and money and give you the flexibility to learn when you are ready. You don't need to fill the tank or find a parking space and you can even wear pajamas to class!

Want to see and hear a past conference session?  Click here.  It may take up to two minutes to download, so please be patient.

You need to have access to a phone and to a computer to participate. You only need to have the most basic computer skills - the ability to access the Internet, to send emails and to download, open attached files and to print them to enjoy online learning.

When you sign up for an online conference or seminar, you will receive, via email, the five things you need to access both the audio (telephone) and visual (computer) portions of the course. You will receive a telephone number and an access code, plus a web address and the web username and password to access the course.

Once you are on the call, you can get as involved in the discussion as you'd like.. Ask questions if you like or just listen. It is important to note that unless you have an unlimited long distance plan (which you probably have through your cell phone) you may be billed long distance charges by your long distance carrier for the time you are on the phone.

When you call in, you may announce yourself if you wish. For instance, "Hi, this is Sue from New York." We record all classes for possible use as streaming or downloadable audios or CDs. Your attendance on the call says you agree to be recorded for any future use.

For many classes, we mute everyone on the call until it is time for questions to minimize this background noise. In any case, individual callers are encouraged to use *6 to mute and unmute their own phones. You may call in late, but if you do, please don't speak when coming in because you will interrupt the call. Listen quietly until you are up to speed with the discussion.

Our classes are all instructor led. Some are discussion-based, meaning that we will start off with key points and invite you to ask questions. Others, particularly if there is a lot of information to impart, are more like a lecture. Be a part of the discussion if you wish or sit back and listen, that's fine too. The discussion is just like a discussion in a class room or a living room, except that it's on the phone.

When the class is over, feel free to say goodbye to everyone or just hang up. Please don't stay on the line after the call is over as our telephone conferencing system needs to reset itself.

Please let us know if you have questions or concerns. We want to hear your voice on the line!
